Good Afternoon Everyone – Next Auction Sunday 14th May – Top 10 from Sunday 16th – Valuation Days ongoing this week

Hi Followers and supporters, I hope you’re all well? So onwards and upwards we move through 2023 and as we’re heading towards some warmer days and sunnier skies, I realised that we haven’t sent out a blog post for quite a while..

Our next auction is on Sunday 14th and we’re pleased to announce that it will be a bumper jewellery sale, plus a great array of antiques and collectables of course, but as it stands, looking like a minimum of 250+ lots of good 9ct-18ct gold pieces, plus an array of decent watches including Rolex, Breitling, Vostok, Mathey-Tissot and Earnshaw examples.

We started off our second run of valuation days for 2023 last Saturday (22nd), with a Church appraisal day at Higherford Methodist near Nelson, are following that up this evening with an appointment-only evening in Elland, and finishing this Spring run, with an event at St Andrew’s in Mirfield, on Saturday 29th April, starting at noon..

Our 16th April sale was a good one all in all, so just to finish off, detailed below are the Top Ten results from the last Sunday sale.. Thank you for reading our blogs and no doubt see some of you at the next sale after the Coronation Bank Holiday weekend… James

Hello Everyone – Our Next Sale is on 16th April.. Our Results from 18/03, plus two valuation days for next month in Barrowford and Mirfield..

Good afternoon followers and bloggers.. so, the 18th March sale albeit on a non-standard Saturday wasn’t too bad, a decent auction all-in-all, a few passes here and there, but some good results, as you’ll see from the below summary..

Our next sale is on SUNDAY 16th APRIL at 12pm, and is coming together to be a decent catalogue, so hopefully we’ll see an array of great results in a few weeks time..

Following enquiries from our January valuation days, we’ve got another couple in the diary for April, in Barrowford, Lancashire and also Mirfield, West Yorkshire on Saturday the 22nd and 29th respectively, so they should be good all things being well.

No more BBC TV appearances for a while I don’t think, unless I decide to telephone Cash in the Attic, Bargain Hunt or Mr Dickinson, but we’ll see.. As we’re getting used to the TV coverage I feel as if Jon and I, plus the wider team, are treating it as second nature.. cue the trumpet blowing and self-congratulations haha..

CHANGE THE DATE – Next sale now on Saturday 18th March..

A little bit of bad news for our customer base who were expecting a flurry of bidding activity as well as the flurries of snow this weekend, in that due to unforeseen circumstances, we’ve had to move our forthcoming sale date to next weekend, Saturday 18th March.

We’ve avoided Mothers Day on the Sunday for obvious reasons, so for a one-off, we’re hosting on the SATURDAY, with viewing on Thursday 16th and Friday 17th March from 10am-5pm.

Sorry again about the change, and keep posted across our Facebook page and website for updates on the catalogue.. Thank you.. James

Next Auction for us on Sunday March 12th, our Top Ten from the last sale from Feb 19th + we’re on BBC TV again this Wednesday 1st March, 3.45pm Antiques Road Trip!

Good evening everyone, I hope you’re all well and looking forward to a few less chilly days going forward and officially the British Springtime.. So, a quick update and recap on how the last week or so has been.. bit of a difficult day today, but that’s passed us now… how was 19th Feb then???

From auction to auction we have long days and difficult ones, and easy days and days that go by in a heartbeat, but Sunday 19th was overall just a funny one, lots of chuckles in the audience and a nice genuine feel between the Halifax locals in the room and the online audience, I loved it!

Best result was the James Bond ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’ wristwatch at £6,400, which was around the £6-£8k estimate we’d rated the item at – so reassuringly on-point! The Enid Blyton collection did well, and yet again, we had a very good day for jewellery, gold and silver pieces..

NEXT UP OUR NEXT SALE… so we’re on again on Sunday 12th March, which we’re labelling up as a Spring Clean/Spring Clear sale, a big catalogue and a bit of an allsorts for everyone feel for our buyers.. Keep your eyes posted and peeled across our Facebook page for updates and advance sneak peeks..

TV FOR US AGAIN THIS WEEK.. Another Antiques Road Trip experience is on TV this week, BBC1 3.45pm on Wednesday 1st March.. so tune in for yours truly and the team around 4.2o this Wednesday!

Finally here is our Top Ten from 19th Feb, thank you again for everyone’s support and custom x

  • Lot 110 – Omega Speedmaster Watch used in Tomorrow Never Dies film – £6,400
  • Lot 111 – Swatch Watch James Bond 007 Collection & Case – £1,750
  • Lot 117 – American Executioner Automaton Penny Slot Machine – £1,250
  • Lot 132 – Enid Blyton Five on Treasure Island First Edition Book – £1,000
  • Lot 296 – 9ct Gold 1920’s Pocketwatch Chain – £710
  • Lot 68 – American Lewandowski 1960’s Street Art Painting – £700
  • Lot 305 – 9ct Gold T-Bar Link Chain – £590
  • Lot 30 – Karl Griesbaum Birdcage Music Box – £570
  • Lot 306 – 9ct Gold Charm & Locket Bracelet – £520
  • Lot 125 – Pair of Large Format Folder Stamp Albums – £500

Auction tomorrow – I hope you’re all looking forward to it!

Sunday’s sale should be another good one, especially so for the James Bond collectables, hopefully we’ll see a good turnout – the two below bits of PR should help, the Bond Lifestyle website one is worth a look as its generated a lot of interest..

Apologies to anyone who’s been trying to get hold of me this week, or us this week, its becoming increasing challenging to run the auction, market it, and get everything as right as it can be all at once, so I’m sorry to any of our customers who’ve been waiting on anything from me of late.. After this forthcoming auction sale, the team and I are having a sit down to see how we can work a little smarter..

Difficulties or problems aside though, here’s looking forward to the sale – my favourite bits looking ahead are going to be the Metallica lots as I was a big fan when I was in my mid-teens, and then the James Bond watch… sorry in advance for any lame quips or “Miss Moneypenny”, “shaken not stirred” lines after lot 100, I may not be able to help myself 🙂
