Meet the Team

Owner & Director

Originally from Scunthorpe, James’ career background was surprisingly centred in financial services and semi-professional musicianship for over a decade prior to the auction/antiques sphere, but since a young age he’s always had a keen interest in buying & selling, and hunting down an antique here or there.

After putting aside his 15yrs in financial services, James established a local antiques fair events business out of Pateley Bridge, Yorkshire Pickers, and also worked with a prominent York-based auction house for a number of years before getting the push to set up in Halifax.

Outside of a great general appreciation for picking accurate values and appraising valuables, James’ specialism centres on ceramics, cameras, musical memorabilia, toys, and Yorkhire Oak.

James lives with his partner near Cleckheaton with their four cats and was once commented upon whilst hosting an antiques fair that “he had such a kind genuine face, reminded me of Jesus..”

Office Manager

On our viewing and sale days, Sally does a great job of running our office and dealing with customers’ queries.

She fits her role with Halifax Mill Auctioneers in to a busy week working with a Leeds-based charity, and we’re lucky to her managing our sale days.

Tobacciana & Local Ephemera

Roger possesses an in-depth knowledge of tobacciana and estate pipes after having owned a local specialist retail outlet in Keighley for over 20yrs.

As a consultant, he’s not necessarily around the business all the time, but as and where required he is very much our go-to expert on this type of thing, plus all things Yorkshire.
